Dear Colleagues,  

As a student of Business Management at the University Carlos III, I believe in the power of people. I believe in power of speaking out for our values, our opinions and our concerns. Speaking out and making our voice heard without fear, without shame. And it is because of this that I am running for course representative.

After having studied in this university for two years now, I am aware, as many of you are, that our university although good, is not perfect. I am sure that we have all dealt with situations in which we have felt that teachers were not taking into account that we have plenty more things to do than just do work for their subject. I am sure that we have all experience the lack of coordination between departments which results in us having weeks with five exams, if not more. Most probably, lots of us have felt that impotence when, after studying for months, a department suddenly decides to make a final exam ten times more difficult without justification, and even more, without recognising it.

This is why, this year I want to try to make things different. I want you to feel that whenever you have a problem or ideas of how things could be improved, you can count on someone. I want you to feel that there is someone there who will listen to you and help you doing everything that is in their hands. Someone who you can trust. 

And I only hope that that someone could be me.

Estimados Compañeros,

Como estudiante de Administración de Empresas de la Universidad Carlos III, creo en el poder de las personas. Creo en el poder de expresar nuestros valores, nuestras opiniones y nuestras preocupaciones. Expresarnos y hacer que nuestras voces se escuchen sin miedo, sin vergüenza. Y es por esto, que me presento para delegada del curso.

Después de haber estudiado en esta universidad durante dos años ya, soy consciente, al igual que muchos de ustedes, que nuestra universidad aunque buena, no es perfecta. Estoy segura de que todos hemos lidiado con situaciones en las que hemos sentido que los profesores no han contado con que tenemos más cosas que hacer que dedicarnos solo a su asignatura. Estoy segura de que todos hemos experimentado la falta de coordinación entre departamentos, lo cual resulta en tener semanas con cinco exámenes, sino más. Probablemente, muchos hemos sentido esa impotencia cuando, después de haber estudiado durante meses, un departamento decide poner, de repente, un examen diez veces más difícil sin justificación, y más aún, sin reconocerlo.

Por todo esto, este año me gustaría intentar hacer las cosas de una manera diferente. Quiero que sientan que cuando tengan algún problema o ideas sobre cómo mejorar las cosas, pueden contar con alguien. Quiero que sientan que hay alguien que está dispuesto a escucharles y ayudarles haciendo todo lo que esté en su mano. Alguien en quien puedan confiar.

Y solo espero que ese alguien pueda ser yo.
